Yoga complex Sita-Ram E-mail
Sunday, 23 December 2007

Sita and Rama – these are the names of two heroes of the Indian Ramayana’s epic. Sita and Rama – those two loving beings, who create a single union.

This exercise represents amorous play of Sita and Rama, their highest spiritual unity. Thus, every twisting and bending to the right indicate Rama, and to the left, Sita. Pose with the hands joined on the breast indicates their unity.

Exercise is done in combination with the rhythm of breathing.

1. Stand straight, join your hands in front of your chest, and breathe out.

2. Put your right hand on your waist, bend to the right, and stretch your left hand over your head, parallel to the ground; breath in.

3. Whilst bending backwards, strech your hands over your head; breathe out.

4. Put your left hand to the waist, bend to the left, and stretch your right hand over your head, parallel to the ground; breathe in.

5. Bend to the front; put your left hand behind your right knee and the right one behind your back. Look up across your right shoulder, and breathe out.

6. Turn to the left and place your right hand above the head and left one behind your right thigh. Look across your left shoulder, and breathe in.

7. Stand straight; join your hands in front of your breast, and breathe out.

8. Turn to the right and place your left hand above the head and right one behind your left thigh. Look across your right shoulder, breathe in.

9. Bend to the front; put your right hand behind your left knee and left one behind your back. Look up across your left shoulder, and breathe out.
