Vishnu personifies unique God, Absolute. Avatars are his embodiments in the material world. Each of them personifies one stage of development of the Universe from the lowest to the highest forms. When you perform this asanas complex, try to merge with each Avatar meditatively, and sing their mantra (each Avatar's phonetic emanation). Each mantra is sung in Sanskrit (Indian language). Before singing each mantra, inhale fully, and on exhalation sing the mantra. During each asana try to relax as much as possible and find internal peace. 1. Narayana Lay on your back, your arms rest at the side of your body. Relax all your muscles; mentally, embrace the whole of your body. Your breathing is even and calm. Imagine that you are Narayana, who rests on the snake-like spirals of the world's ocean. Narayana`s sleep personifies the unexpressed. Non-existence. Sing the mantra 'Narayana'. Meditatively merge with this sound. 2. Matya (Fish) From the 'lying on your back' position, move to the 'lotus' position, put hands under your hip joint, lean on your elbows and the back of your head, and bend backwards. Hold your breath at expirations. Imagine that life in it s simplest form, 'the fish', has appeared on Earth. Imagine the sea world with its inhabitants. Sing the mantra "Matya". 3. Kurma (Tortoise) Without changing the leg's position, bend down so that your forehead touches the ground. Grasp your hand behind your back. Hold your breath on expirations. Imagine that life on Earth has moved gradually from the sea depths to the land: the first amphibious have appeared, and you are one of them. Merge with the image of a tortoise. Sing the mantra 'Kurma'. 4. Varakha (Wild boar) Sit on your knees, grasp your heels and slowly bend your spine. Hold your breath on inhalations. Imagine the appearance of the first terrestrial animals. Fauna develops and spreads on Earth. Enter the role of a wild animal: a wild boar. Sing the mantra 'Varakha'. 5. Narasimkha (Lion-Man) From the position 'sitting on your knees' lift yourself up slightly, pulling the legs' muscles. The hands are at the side of the body, bent from the elbows and fingers are like the lion’s paws. You are not a man yet, nor an animal. The lion-man personifies the transition from more primitive forms to more perfect forms of life on Earth. Enter this role. Sing the mantra 'Narasimkha'. 6. Vamana (Dwarf) Sit on the heel of the right foot, so that this touches the coccyx; extend your left foot backwards. Place your left hand at the back of the left knee, and right hand on the right knee. Turn as much as possible to the left. Hold your breathing at inhalation and exhalation. Imagine yourself as a small clever dwarf, personifying the nascent mind of a human being. Feel this image. Sing the mantra 'Vamana'.
